Unite for the new generation of Classical Music
Welcome to the Metropolis
Inspired by the triangular theory of love, encompassing intimacy, passion, and commitment, the Metropolis of Music transcends from Platonica’s installation, resulting in a permanent and sustainable centre dedicated to the furthering of classical music.
A gift to the city that becomes its host, the Metropolis of Music is a poetic and futuristic centre where people can experience classical music through live concerts and an in-house radio station, as well as through a research and education hub, finding its values in the aforementioned triangular theory of love. Intimacy provides the connectedness to share and transmit music and music-related information and knowledge. Passion is the driving force that welcomes new talents and wishes to offer a platform for their growth and fulfilment. Finally, commitment to deliver the best tools to help the audience’s interest in a musical education is the ultimate goal of the Metropolis.
Platonica’s installation leaves behind an architectural jewel with three glass domes suspended on water, where the Metropolis of Music gets a chance to evolve. Providing a cultivated and intellectual environment, this will be a place where sybarites and intellectuals can find a quiet atmosphere to escape in music and great food delicacies. It hopes to become a wellness space for the soul, welcoming of all types of public, yet maintaining a level of exclusivity for those who truly appreciate its offering. In order to achieve this quiet atmosphere, the centre will use a membership-only model, open once a month to the general public with limited spots.
Library and Delicacies
The first dome of ‘intimacy’ is a welcome space that offers the public a library, focused on works of classical music, philosophy, and science. This library is special in its unique selection of rare books and unusual collections, while complimented by a beautiful reading room.
This dome also features a ‘food boutique’ offering rare delicacies, as the perfect meeting spot for sybarites as well as music aficionados and professionals. The food boutique will offer new products with the idea to compliment music and philosophy with outstanding gastronomy. Every month the centre will host an exclusive degustation dinner, where new products and dishes will be presented in innovative ways to food lovers and esteemed members.
The third service in this dome is music consultancy that is available for those interested in furthering their education, network, or musical carriers.
Music Hall
The second dome will become a music hall laid out as a sort of amphitheatre around a central stage with a capacity of up to 225 seats, available for concerts, conferences, seminars, workshops, and more. The autumn/winter season is the time of the year when new talents are presented, and special concerts take place to open the new season.
Introducing science, this dome also offers a very unique feature, as its ceiling is turned into a magnifying glass to be able to look at the stars more closely. In addition, using the technology of electrochromic glass on the dome walls, they receive an electric charge that lets its transparency fade, changing color and allowing complete darkness to make the space more private and cosy.
As mentioned, the hall involves a central stage surrounded by landscape architecture playing with mirrors where videos and images can be projected. Circular, it features a hand- crafted and awe-inspiring curtain using the newest textile technologies. The curtain drops from the highest point of the dome at around 67 meters falling around the stage and with the ability to be mechanically lifted. The different elements of this hall will create a sort of parallel universe, delicate and full of elegance.
